“He put a knife to his chest and told me to stab him with it.”

This was the moment Claire Hulbert knew that something had to change. She had met Stephen Parker three years before sharing her story with me when he messaged her on Facebook. Now, she is happy and safe, but felt compelled to raise awareness following her experience to help other people spot warning signs and protect themselves from similar situations.

Claire said: “He would paint himself out to be lovely. But I should have picked up on the signs in the first months really."
