BAFTA nominee Angela Samata speaks on mental health and having honest conversations
Mid-lockdown, in 2020, I interviewed Angela Samata about the work she has done to help eradicate the stigma around suicide. As well as her career working as an artist, she has worked with a variety of organisations to increase our understanding of mental health, and encourage people to be open about their own experiences. In this interview, Angela discusses the impact of her BAFTA-nominated BBC1 documentary she made in 2015 and how the media are changing the way stories around mental health are addressed, her work with Hollyoaks on their 'Don't Filter Feelings' campaign. She also gives advice on how people should broach the topic of suicide and how to talk openly about the issue.
