I approached coverage of the wildfires in LA in 2024 by documenting both the scale of the environmental disaster and its social impact on the Los Angeles area. I began by examining the extent of the destruction incklthe catastrophic scenes, the confirmed fatalities, and the loss of multiple high-profile properties. As evacuation orders expanded, I also co-authored several articles showing the impact on a human level, noting cases such as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry being instructed to leave their high-risk residence, alongside the broader evacuation of approximately 30,000 people, some of whom were forced to flee on foot.

The number of disasters similar to this is becoming increasingly concerning, meaning that it felt more important than ever to bring different moving elements together in a way that reflected both the scale of the disaster and the lived experiences of those caught up in it.
